UN ÉTAT DE CONSCIENCE

As part of the Arles Photographic Encounters, from 4 to 14 July, La Grande Vitrine welcomes the German photography magazine ProfiFoto (www.profifoto.de).

Profifoto presents the work of 40 international photographers carefully selected by Petra and Thomas Gerwers, with the support of WhiteWall.

On display in the exhibition are exclusively camera-based photographs. The multitude of different positions and visual languages reflects the spectrum of contemporary professional photography, from people to still life and portrait photography to documentary photography projects, all of which have in common that they deal with the theme « UN ÉTAT DE CONSCIENCE ».
In cooperation with Prompt Forum (promptforum.com), which specializes in AI-generated images, the gallery will also feature a curated projection of exemplary, synthetically generated images. This will mark the first time in the history of the Rencontres that AI-generated images are being presented to showcase the state of the art of this new genre.

Nearly 150 applicants worldwide took part in the Call for Entries, most of them from Germany, followed by those from the USA and Canada. Also represented are photographers from many other countries, including Singapor, China and Finland.
The positions presented in the gallery have been selected by Petra and ThomasGerwers of ProfiFoto.
The public vernissage will be held on July 3 from 6 pm in the presence of many of the exhibiting photographers. Open daily 12-20 pm.
